The Ford Bronco Stroppe Edition already stands out before any modifications are made.

Its heritage-inspired multi-colour exterior combines bold gloss-painted panels with contrasting satin-finished surfaces. That combination also created an interesting paint protection challenge: one type of PPF wasn’t the right solution for the entire vehicle.

For this special Bronco, our SPL2 Paint Protection & Care team in Richmond, BC completed a full-body paint protection film installation using two different XPEL films.

We installed XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS on the gloss surfaces to retain their original shine and XPEL STEALTH on the satin surfaces to preserve their factory satin appearance.

The objective was simple: protect the entire Bronco without changing what makes the Stroppe Edition visually unique.

Protecting a Special Edition Ford Bronco

One of the advantages of full-body PPF is that protection doesn’t have to come at the expense of the vehicle’s original design.

That’s particularly important on a vehicle like the Bronco Stroppe Edition.

Rather than covering the vehicle in a single film finish, we approached each exterior surface according to its factory appearance.

This allowed us to provide consistent physical protection across the vehicle while maintaining the intended contrast between its gloss and satin finishes.

XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS for the Gloss Surfaces

The Bronco’s gloss-painted surfaces were protected using XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS paint protection film.

ULTIMATE PLUS is a clear gloss PPF designed to protect the underlying finish while allowing the original colour and gloss of the paint to remain visible.

For a vehicle that may see highway driving, gravel, trails and year-round use, PPF provides a sacrificial barrier between the factory finish and common sources of damage such as:

Rock chips
Road debris
Light scratches
Bug impacts
Environmental contamination
Everyday wear

Instead of these impacts reaching the factory paint directly, the PPF takes the abuse.

XPEL STEALTH for the Satin Surfaces

The satin areas required a different approach.

Installing conventional gloss PPF over a satin surface can alter its appearance by introducing unwanted gloss. To maintain the intended finish, these areas were instead protected with XPEL STEALTH satin paint protection film.

STEALTH provides the physical protection expected from PPF while maintaining a smooth satin appearance.

This is especially important on vehicles that combine multiple factory finishes. The goal isn’t simply to cover every panel — it’s to make the protection visually disappear into the vehicle’s existing design.

Installing PPF Around the Bronco’s Unique Details

Full-body PPF installation becomes considerably more involved when a vehicle features contrasting colours, graphics, badges, pronounced body lines, large fender flares and numerous exterior details.

The Stroppe Edition has plenty of them.

Careful installation around these areas helps maintain clean transitions between the different finishes while keeping the Bronco’s factory graphics and styling as the visual focus.

From the bright exterior colours and BRONCO graphics to the Stroppe Edition badging, the completed PPF shouldn’t be the first thing you notice.

Ideally, you shouldn’t notice it at all.

Full-Body Protection for an Off-Road Vehicle Makes Sense

PPF is often associated with sports cars and luxury vehicles, but an off-road-oriented vehicle such as the Bronco is arguably one of the applications where physical paint protection makes the most practical sense.

The upright front end, exposed fenders and large body surfaces can encounter debris during normal highway driving, while gravel roads and outdoor use introduce additional opportunities for chips and scratches.

Together, the two films allow the original multi-finish design to remain intact while providing full-body protection.
