A Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is the kind of car where performance, appearance, and preservation all matter. For this 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, the owner wanted to address all three.
Rather than splitting the project between different specialty shops, the vehicle received a combination of mechanical, performance, and paint protection services at Speed Projects Laboratory in Richmond, BC. This made it a perfect collaboration between our SPL1 Performance & Maintenance and SPL2 Paint Protection & Care divisions.
SPL1 handled the suspension upgrades, wheel fitment, maintenance inspection, spark plug replacement, and alignment, while SPL2 completed a full-body paint protection film installation.

The Project: One Gallardo, Two SPL Divisions
This Gallardo LP560-4 came to SPL for a fairly comprehensive list of services.
SPL1 – Performance & Maintenance
The SPL1 portion of the project included:
- Swift lowering spring installation
- MODE PLUSTRACK wheel spacer installation
- Maintenance inspection
- NGK Ruthenium HX spark plug replacement — P/N 92400
- Four-wheel alignment
SPL2 – Paint Protection & Care
At the same time, SPL2 completed:
- Full-body paint protection film installation
Having both divisions involved allowed us to coordinate the project from the mechanical work through to final exterior protection.
Swift Lowering Springs: Improving the Gallardo’s Stance
One of the most noticeable changes came from the installation of Swift lowering springs.
The factory suspension components were carefully disassembled so the original springs could be removed and the Swift springs installed onto the existing assemblies.
On a vehicle like the Gallardo, lowering isn’t simply about making the car sit closer to the ground. The goal is a more purposeful stance while maintaining a setup appropriate for a performance-oriented street car.
The new springs reduce the visual space around the wheels and give the LP560-4 a lower, more aggressive profile without taking away from the original Lamborghini design.
MODE PLUSTRACK Wheel Spacers
To complement the suspension change, we installed MODE PLUSTRACK wheel spacers.
Lowering a vehicle can make wheel positioning even more noticeable. Properly selected spacers move the wheels outward relative to the hubs, helping create a more flush relationship between the wheels and bodywork.
Combined with the Swift lowering springs, the spacers give the Gallardo a wider and more planted appearance while retaining its factory wheels.
The combination is subtle, but that’s exactly the point. Rather than making the car look heavily modified, the finished stance looks like something Lamborghini could have delivered from the factory.
Maintenance Inspection & NGK Ruthenium HX Spark Plugs
Performance upgrades weren’t the only focus of this visit.
With a vehicle from 2010, keeping up with maintenance is every bit as important as modifying it.
Our SPL1 technicians performed a maintenance inspection and replaced the spark plugs with NGK Ruthenium HX High Ignitability Spark Plugs, P/N 92400.
Spark plugs play an essential role in ignition and combustion, and their condition becomes particularly important on high-performance engines.
Combining maintenance work with the suspension upgrades also gave us an opportunity to look over the vehicle while it was already in the shop rather than treating each service as a completely separate visit.
Alignment After Lowering
Once the Swift springs and MODE PLUSTRACK wheel spacers were installed, the Gallardo received a four-wheel alignment.
This is an important final step whenever suspension ride height is changed.
Lowering can alter alignment geometry, including toe and camber. Performing an alignment after the suspension work allows those measurements to be checked and adjusted appropriately.
For a performance car, proper alignment is especially important for predictable handling and tire wear.
With the SPL1 portion completed, attention turned to preserving the Gallardo’s exterior.
SPL2: Full Body Paint Protection Film
A Gallardo isn’t just a performance car—it’s also a vehicle worth preserving.
SPL2 completed a full-body paint protection film installation, covering the painted exterior surfaces with clear PPF.
PPF creates a sacrificial layer over the original finish, helping protect the paint from common road hazards such as:
- Stone chips
- Road debris
- Minor scratches
- Bug impacts
- Environmental contamination
- Everyday wear
This is particularly valuable on low-slung exotic vehicles. The front bumper, hood, fenders, rocker areas, and rear quarters can all be exposed to debris during normal driving.
Instead of limiting protection to the front end, full-body coverage extends that protection around the entire vehicle.
Installation Details Matter on a Lamborghini
PPF installation becomes considerably more involved when working with the shapes and body lines of an exotic car.
The Gallardo has sharp edges, large vents, complex bumper geometry and numerous transitions between painted surfaces, grilles, carbon components and trim.
Careful preparation and installation around these areas helps keep the finished film as visually unobtrusive as possible.
The goal isn’t for someone to immediately notice that the Gallardo has PPF.
The goal is for them to notice the car.
The Finished Result
Once everything came together, the transformation was subtle but substantial.
The Swift springs lowered the stance. The MODE PLUSTRACK spacers improved the wheel positioning. The alignment completed the suspension work. New NGK Ruthenium HX spark plugs and our maintenance inspection addressed the maintenance side of the project.
And over the entire vehicle, full-body PPF helps preserve the Gallardo’s original finish.
No single modification overwhelms the car.
Instead, each service contributes toward making this LP560-4 a better-presented, better-protected and properly maintained example.
